I am ready! Not only ready, but anxiously waiting for it!
What is it?
Real rain, not the drizzly showery liquid that many out here in Southern California call “rain”. Nope, the real stuff…millions of liquid drops that will join forces on the ground and be measured in inches!
Why am I so excited?
First, I’m excited for the entire region. We are in a drought situation, have been for years, so anything that helps alleviate that situation is awesome (I will bite my fingers and not get on my soapbox about water hog landscaping – nope, not even gonna mention it). With the forecast having clouds/rain in it well into next week Mother Nature should be making a nice dent in that drought status!
Second, I’m excited for all the drought tolerant plants in my front yard (read about the near completion of that landscaping conversion here). They’ll be getting a goodly dose of water from Mother Nature – a dose large enough that their liquid needs will be met for the next couple months, longer if cooler temperature remain and/or more rain gifts are bestowed upon my area.
As awesome as those reasons are, they are not THE reason I am so excited. Nope, I am most excited because for the foreseeable future I get to bury myself in layers of clothes to stay warm, snuggle up under blankets to work on my novella or read some of the books in my to-read tower, and when I look outside, the relentless never-ending blue sky will be replaced by layers of clouds in varying shades of gray that look so close I feel the need to duck. All of this a most welcome change from the every day reality that is my area of Southern California.
“Rain, rain don’t go away, make yourself at home and stay”!
Now…where is that umbrella of mine?
