My Wire Tree Treasure

It’s been more than a week since I posted about the treasure that I found at Pottery Barn so I thought I’d update you on its status.

The tree arrived safe and sound as scheduled on Monday the 12th…

I opened the box, unwrapped the contents (easier said then done) and hung the tree.  As much as I thought I would hunt down treasures between order and receipt time, I didn’t, so the tree hung in complete nakedness that first night.

Over the next several days I did find a few treasures to hang, but given my overly work-responsible self, my nights were spent working rather than treasure hunting, so the tree is still quite bare.

I can picture all the things I want to hang, and now that I’ve got a 2 week break in my gardening workshops I’m hoping to fill this tree before the workshops resume.

So…what is gracing the tree so far?

In a place of honor at top is a picture of my Mom…one my sister took when Mom and Dad were visiting her home in VA.  It’s the photo we used on the program for Mom’s memorial service.  Opposite her will be a picture of my Dad.  I have plenty to choose from now so one of those will go up…but I may update it with a picture I take when I’m home for Thanksgiving…

I’ve also got a mini gardening pot because…well…I garden!

And I’ve got my ticket stub from a Josh Groban concert because he is just sooo…AWESOME…and I went backstage to meet him…  :-)

And there’s the cardinal ornament my sister gave me in memory of our Mom (Mom’s favorite bird was the cardinal)

I have added to this tree a button I wear once a year — only on March 17th.  My mother had done a lot of genealogy research and I can say with complete accuracy that there is no known drop of Irish blood running through my veins.  However, my brother married a lady of absolute Irish decent, so in recognition of her heritage and that of my niece and nephews, I proudly sport this button (pardon my shadow on the wall)…

Last is a random ticket I grabbed from all the ones I have.  I only need one to illustrate my fandom, the balance will remain in the cabinet below the TV in my bedroom…

Now you have an idea of the kind of stuff I’m looking to place on this tree.  Basically my most favorite goodies, things that conjure up awesome memories of my life.

Once the branches are more lush than they currently are, I will update you with another picture.

In the interim, know that my tree is hung in such a place that I see it first thing in the morning, an awesome way to start each day!

Very fun! I like that you can change its look simply by changing the treasures you hang on it.
